| "Nietzsche said that God is dead . . . So for the last century, we've been living under the shadow of the death of God in the culture . . . When God dies, all truth dies and all meaning dies. So in this culture, the church is faced with reestablishing that there is absolute truth, absolute meaning, absolute morals, and that the opposite of true is false. We have to do more apologetics today than ever before."
"It's a life or death issue . . . In fact, it's an eternal life or eternal death issue, to put it in blunt language . . . And if we can't get passionate about that, then we're not going to get passionate about anything!"
-Norman Geisler | | |
| "How did God demonstrate His love? He sent His only Son. Christ died for us. How do you show love towards others? You point them to Christ. You bring them that message . . . Do you have compassion for the lost?It is not what you say with your lips but it is the way you live your life that will determine the answer to that question." (A Passion to Share -preached on 11/14/04)
“Love has to do with showing a dying soul the life-giving beauty of the glory of God, especially his grace. Not to aim to show God is not to love, because God is what we need most deeply. And to have all else without him is to perish in the end . . . If you don’t point people to God for everlasting joy, you don’t love. You waste your life” (John Piper, DWYL, 34-35).

| Earlier this year, the Lord called me to serve at CICC. This is my new youth group. Josh, don't waste your life . . .
"You get one pass at life. That's all. Only one. And the lasting measure of that life is Jesus Christ."
"What would it mean to waste my life? That was the burning question. Or, more positively, what would it mean to live well--not to waste life, but to . . . ? How to finish that sentence was the question." 'What was the opposite of not wasting my life? "To be successful in a career"? Or "to be maximally happy"? Or "to accomplish something great?" Or "to find the deepest meaning and significance"? Or "to help as many people as possible"? Or "to serve Christ to the full"? Or "to glorify God in all I do"? Or was there a point, a purpose, a focus, an essence to life that would fulfill every one of those dreams.'
"Only one life,
'Twill soon be past;
Only what's done for Christ will last."-(taken from John Piper's Don't Waste Your Life) | | |
| Apologetics Q & A session @ CICC September 24, 2004 My life: to share the love of Christ
" . . . there is nothing more pointless than an answer to a question that it is not fully understood, fully posed. We are far too impatient with questions, and therefore far too shallow in appreciating answers."
Reader: Goodbye. Thank you for clearing away some of the obstacles of the intellectual road.

"That's what bugs me about Christians," he said. "You seem nice at first, but then you start getting judgmental."
"What's wrong with that?" I said.
"It's not right to judge other people."
"If it's wrong to judge people, then why are you judging me?"
"You're right," he admitted. "I was judging you. Kind of hard to avoid it."
"How about this? It's okay to judge people, as long as you don't force your morality on them," he said. "That's when you cross the line."
"Okay, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Is that your morality?"
"Yes."
"Then why are you pushing your morality on me?"
"This isn't fair!"
"Why not?" I asked.
"I can't find a way to say it so it sounds right."
"It doesn't sound right because it isn't right; it's self-refuting."
"Now you've got me confused."
"No, you were confused when you started. You just realized it."
